"And to enjoy Infinite Bodies to the full, you have to be as dazzled by technology as McGregor himself is. Installation view of Wayne McGregor Infinite Bodies at Somerset House. Photo: Ravi Deepres At the press presentation, Wayne McGregor said Infinite Bodies was the result of three decades of experimentation off the stage on physical intelligence, cognitive intelligence and emotional intelligence;"
Wayne McGregor, resident choreographer at The Royal Ballet, creates contemporary choreography emphasizing hyper-flexible, seemingly boneless bodies and has produced over 200 works, earning a knighthood and CBE. Infinite Bodies at Somerset House foregrounds McGregor's interest in technology and its relationship with the human body rather than stage performance. The exhibition in the Embankment Galleries presents interactive contraptions and explanatory panels, including AISOMA, a Google Arts & Culture Lab collaboration that detects live poses and generates new phrases based on McGregor's archive. The project spans experiments in physical, cognitive, and emotional intelligence and aims to alter visitors' perceptions of their own bodies.
