Ilia Malinin opened the Olympic season by winning the Grand Prix de France with a commanding 321.00 total, finishing 40 points clear of Adam Siao Him Fa. The 20-year-old landed five quadruple jumps in his free skate, with only a slight under-rotation on one quad, and extended an unbeaten run approaching two years since his last defeat at the same event in 2023. Malinin did not attempt his trademark quadruple axel. Adam Siao Him Fa placed second on 280.95 and Nika Egadze third on 259.41. Olympic ice dance champion Guillaume Cizeron and new partner Laurence Fournier Beaudry won their international debut with a 133.02 free dance and 211.02 total, edging Lilah Fear and Lewis Gibson by 0.8 points despite an earlier fall.
