""I have watched him sit here in this courtroom, quiet and timid, as if he couldn't possibly have done what he did,""
""But I know the truth. I know how savage, how horrific, and how violent his actions were. I hate that he thought he had the right to take my daughter's life. I hate that he took her from us, from the family that loved her so deeply, from the future she was building, and from the world that was brighter because she was in it.""
""Whatever other issues he may have, he's a batterer,""
""He's a domestic abuser. I look at his record, and that's clear. That's why I didn't let him hide in the corner.""
Tyler Baglini, 32, pleaded guilty to the 2024 murder of 31-year-old Kerri Fidalgo and was sentenced to life with the possibility of parole after 25 years. First responders found Fidalgo with multiple stabbing wounds at 86 Atlantic St. in New Bedford on Sept. 20, 2024. Baglini arrived at St. Luke's Hospital holding a stained kitchen knife and was held overnight for a psychiatric evaluation. Court records show prior allegations including assaults on two homeless men and an attempt to push an air conditioning unit onto a former girlfriend's head. The judge labeled Baglini a domestic abuser, and the victim's mother delivered an emotional impact statement. The defense cited Baglini's history of substance abuse and mental health concerns.
