"The Charles J. Kirk Lyon County Government Complex, located at 103 Three Crossing Ave. in Dayton, Nevada, approximately 40 miles from South Lake Tahoe, will break ground on Nov. 13, the county said in Tuesday news release. The complex will house several county departments, including the Dayton Justice Court, the District Attorney's Dayton Office, the Human Services Dayton Office and the Sheriff's Office Dayton Substation, according to the county."
"Taylor Allison, a spokesperson for the county, told SFGATE in an emailed statement that the complex has been discussed for "several years." She said some of the current offices, such as human services and the sheriff's office, currently operate out of leased buildings. "The new complex will allow these services to be housed in a centralized, County-owned facility," she said."
Construction will begin on a new government complex in Dayton, Nevada, named the Charles J. Kirk Lyon County Government Complex. The facility at 103 Three Crossing Ave. will consolidate offices including the Dayton Justice Court, the District Attorney's Dayton Office, the Human Services Dayton Office and the Sheriff's Office Dayton Substation. The Lyon County Board of Commissioners approved the name unanimously in September following the fatal shooting of conservative activist Charlie Kirk. Public feedback on the name ranged from positive to negative, with concerns that naming a government building after a political figure can divide the community. Construction is expected to start in mid-November and finish by early April 2027.
