MultiVersus Directors Reunite To Launch New Studio
""We've spent years working on high-profile AAA titles, but we missed the wonderful, reckless creativity of more focused games," said the pair in a statement. "It's a space where we can focus on providing new experiences that interest us both as players and developers. We're so excited to have the freedom to take creative risks, push boundaries, and tell stories that just aren't feasible for AAA productions.""
"Now, two of the directors of MultiVersus have revealed that they are joining forces to launch a new studio, Airlock Games, which will be completely self-funded. MultiVersus production director Justin Fischer and technical director Brock Feldman are the founding members of Airlock Games, and the duo previously worked on Disney Infinity and Medal of Honor. Rather than diving back into AAA games, Fischer and Feldman plan to focus on making smaller games more quickly."
WB Games canceled MultiVersus and shut the game down in May. Justin Fischer and Brock Feldman, former MultiVersus directors who previously worked on Disney Infinity and Medal of Honor, founded Airlock Games as a completely self-funded studio. The founders intend to prioritize smaller, faster projects that allow for creative risks and experiences not feasible in AAA productions. Airlock Games' first title is What the Stars Forgot, a sim-management horror using old-school 16-bit graphics. A Kickstarter campaign seeks $25,000 and has raised nearly $8,000 as of press time, running until November 27. The game will enter Steam Early Access later this year.
