"It's still up in the air if center Dylan Strome will play for the Capitals. He missed Tuesday's game in Dallas with a lower body injury and returned to practice Thursday, albeit in a noncontact jersey. Strome upgraded to a regular sweater for Friday's morning skate but Washington Coach Spencer Carbery was noncommittal about Strome being in the lineup. "We'll see," Carbery said. "Got to talk to the medical staff and we'll see for tonight.""
"Regardless of Strome's status, Carbery intends to keep Hendrix Lapierre at center after Lapierre's line turned in a strong performance against the Stars on Tuesday. Though the Capitals were shut out, Lapierre's line led Washington's forward lines with four high-danger scoring chances, and Lapierre himself caught the crossbar off the rush on one of the Capitals' best looks. "I thought they were excellent, yeah," Carbery said Tuesday night. "Probably the best game that Lap's played all year, from just standing on the bench.""
""I felt good. I thought we had a good line, good game overall," Lapierre said. "Whenever we were out there, I felt like we were in the [offensive] zone, making plays. Couple inches away on a lot of shots. Hit a post, and a couple loose pucks where it hits a pad or something. I felt like we did a good job being dominant in our shifts and using our speed to our advantage.""
The Washington Capitals enter the game having lost two straight and aim to avoid a three-game skid early in the season. Center Dylan Strome missed the Dallas game with a lower-body injury, returned to practice in a noncontact jersey, then upgraded to a regular sweater for morning skate while his playing status remained undecided. Coach Spencer Carbery plans to keep Hendrix Lapierre at center after Lapierre's line produced four high-danger chances and strong shifts. Ethen Frank went to injured reserve with an upper-body injury, and Anthony Beauvillier and Justin Sourdif skated on Lapierre's wings in practice.
