32 e-buses will arrive in Cagliari by the end of 2025, bringing the fleet to 43% electric (151 e-buses in operation) - Sustainable Bus
"By December 31, 2025, 43% of CTM Cagliari's fleet will be electric. Between now and the end of the year, the Sardinian operator will add 32 new e-buses, bringing its total battery-electric fleet to 151 vehicles out of 347 in operation. The next milestones are 80% electric by the end of 2026 and a fully electric fleet by 2030, as reported on Italian trade media (and our sister media) Autobusweb."
"These articulated buses will form the backbone of our BRT (Bus Rapid Transit) project, linking Cagliari to Quartu Sant'Elena via the Poetto. The line will offer fast, high-capacity, and sustainable service. A key advantage: electric buses do not require new infrastructure, so we can immediately increase transport capacity without construction works. The new connection from the Plaia hub to Quartu Sant'Elena will provide residents with direct and rapid access to the Poetto and, more broadly, to the metro-style transport network."
CTM Cagliari will reach 43% electric fleet by December 31, 2025, adding 32 e-buses this year to total 151 battery-electric vehicles of 347 in operation. The operator targets 80% electric by the end of 2026 and a fully electric fleet by 2030. Recent additions include an 18-meter Solaris Urbino 18E and a 12-meter Otokar e-Kent C, while Otokar Italy delivered eight 6-meter e-Centro C minibuses for shorter routes and last-mile services. The 18-meter articulated buses will serve as the backbone of a BRT linking Cagliari to Quartu Sant'Elena via the Poetto, enabling capacity increases without new infrastructure.
