Citi Bike is giving away unlimited free rides to New Yorkers for Earth Day
""Car-Free Earth Day is a reminder that we only have one planet-and that our streets play a critical role in our fight against climate change," said NYC DOT Commissioner Mike Flynn in an official statement."
""Transportation is the second biggest source of carbon emissions in New York City, and finding ways to make clean transportation options quicker, easier, and more affordable is key.""
""We encourage all New Yorkers to come out to enjoy temporary public art, programming, music, and other activities at dozens of car-free streets around New York City," Commissioner Flynn added."
The New York City Department of Transportation is hosting its 10th annual Car-Free Earth Day fest on April 25. Citi Bike will provide unlimited 30-minute rides for 24 hours, supported by Lyft. Select streets in all five boroughs will be converted into public plazas and car-free areas, allowing access to over 1,000 miles of the Bike Network. The event will feature free activities focused on climate change and sustainability from 10am to 4pm, encouraging participation from New Yorkers.
