Apple's Tim Cook Dazzles Trump by Gifting Him Hunk of Glass
Briefly

During the rollout of "Liberation Day" tariffs, President Trump threatened Apple with 25 percent tariffs if it did not produce iPhones in the U.S. Tim Cook appeased Trump by presenting him with a glass award, despite the unlikelihood of producing entirely U.S.-made iPhones. Cook praised Trump as a supporter of American innovation and announced that Apple would increase its commitment to U.S. spending by an additional $100 billion, totaling $600 billion over four years. This commitment includes U.S.-based production of glass for Apple devices.
This glass comes off the Corning line. It's a unique unit of one. It was designed by a U.S. Marine Corps. corporal, a former one, that works at Apple now.
President Trump ... asked us to think about what more we can commit to doing. And Mr. President, we took that challenge very seriously.
Tim Apple found a way to appease Trump without actually meeting his unreasonable demand for an entirely U.S.-made iPhone.
Cook announced Apple is adding an additional $100 billion to its previous pledge to spend $500 billion in the U.S. over the next four years.
