Court orders Apple to stop collecting fees for purchases made outside the App Store
Briefly

Judge Yvonne Gonzalez Rogers has reaffirmed her previous ruling by stating that Apple must cease collecting commissions on purchases made outside the App Store. Initially ruling in 2021 that Apple did not hold a monopoly, she mandated that developers could direct users to alternative payment systems. Epic Games accused Apple of non-compliance as it continued to collect fees. In her recent ruling, she prohibited Apple from displaying warnings against external payments and from preventing developers from using direct payment links. Apple has indicated plans to appeal this decision.
"Apple sought to maintain a revenue stream worth billions in direct defiance of this court's injunction," she said.
"We strongly disagree with the decision. We will comply with the court's order and we will appeal," an Apple spokesperson told The New York Times.
