Do You Actually Need the 2nd Gen Apple AirTag?
"In 2021, Apple more-or-less introduced to the world to the concept of the "item finder" with the AirTag. What started as a way to make sure your luggage wasn't getting lost or stolen has become a must-have for some. There are AirTags in our wallets, our passport holders, and on our keychains. Frankly, most of us won't fly without them anymore. If that includes you, listen up."
"Starting this week, you can purchase the second generation model of AirTags on Amazon. Same price as the old one, can still get one for $30 or a bundle of four for $100. We haven't got our hands on them (yet, the Amazon delivery date currently says February 4), but the new AirTags will be louder and more powerful than the original."
Apple released a second-generation AirTag unexpectedly and made it available for immediate purchase on Amazon. The new model retains the prior pricing at $30 each or $100 for a four-pack. The second-generation AirTag is 50 percent louder and includes a distinctive new chime to improve audibility. Bluetooth range and Precision Finding have been improved, allowing users to locate items up to 50 percent farther than with the original AirTag. Amazon listings show delivery dates in early February. The second-generation model is positioned as a long-term replacement for the first generation.
