Geoffrey Hinton experienced a breakup in which his former partner used ChatGPT to enumerate reasons why he had been "a rat" and relayed the chatbot's wording during the conversation. The chatbot produced an explanation of alleged awful behavior that was presented to Hinton. Hinton did not feel bad about the AI-generated critique and later moved on after meeting someone else. If ChatGPT was used, the breakup occurred within the past three years. OpenAI recently announced changes to guide ChatGPT away from directly answering high-stakes personal questions and instead ask clarifying questions.
