Project Rebirth presents an innovative AI-powered airplane crash survival system that incorporates external airbags to mitigate impact during emergencies. Designed by Eshel Wasim and Dharsan Srinivasan, the system activates automatically upon predicting a crash below 3,000 feet while assessing variables like engine status and altitude. High-speed airbags deploy within two seconds to absorb impact, and thrust capabilities adjust based on engine status. Additionally, the aircraft will feature conspicuous bright orange paint and emergency locating devices to aid rescue operations.
Project Rebirth introduces an AI-powered airplane crash survival system that uses inflating external airbags to reduce impact during abrupt landing.
If the system predicts that the crash cannot be stopped, and if the aircraft is flying below 3,000 feet, it activates the system automatically, wrapping the aircraft with inflating external airbags.
The system monitors various factors like engine status, speed, and altitude before it autonomously makes a decision, with the capability for manual override by pilots.
For the rescue aid component, Project Rebirth suggests using bright orange paint and equipping the aircraft with GPS devices, infrared beacons, and flashing lights to assist rescue teams.
