Many are also concerned about how AI could undermine their own voice and ideas in their writing. This anxiety is compounded by potential biases in faculty assessments, particularly affecting students from marginalized backgrounds. Faculty also share confusion around AI usage guidelines, highlighting the need for comprehensive institutional policies and support as educational systems integrate AI technologies.
Almost a third of students report that they don't know how or when to use generative AI to help with coursework.
If I write like myself, I get points off for not following the rubric. If I fix my grammar and follow the template... my teacher will look at me and assume I used ChatGPT.
