Cheng Tsung FENG's creative practice centers on preserving and reinterpreting fading traditional crafts and cultural memories. He focused on the bamboo opera stage, a once-prevalent architectural form used for temple festivals and communal celebrations in Taiwan but now rarely seen. At the historic Wenwu Temple in Lukang, Changhua, which has stood for over two centuries, FENG constructed a monumental outdoor stage composed of thousands of bamboo poles. The installation revives the scale and grandeur of the bamboo opera stage while translating its material and cultural resonances into a contemporary sculptural form that foregrounds communal heritage and craft techniques.
