What's on in Germany: Nine unmissable events this November
"The Filmfest Dusseldorf is one of the largest and most prestigious short film festivals in North Rhine-Westphalia, entirely organised by students of media and cultural studies at Heinrich Heine University since 2003. The 23rd edition will feature a competitive programme showcasing 20 to 25 high-quality short films selected from over 1,000 international submissions, ranging in length from three to 30 minutes."
"For contemporary art enthusiasts, ART COLOGNE presents an unparalleled opportunity to engage with the international art scene. Europe's longest running and most influential art fair is open to collectors, connoisseurs and curious members of the public alike. Visitors to the Art Cologne art fair in 2024 stand in front of a sculpture by Jorg Immendorff titled Joseph Beuys with Monkey."
Germany hosts major cultural and creative events in November 2025 for art lovers, music enthusiasts, sports fans, and tradition seekers. Filmfest Dusseldorf runs November 5–7 as a student-organised short film festival featuring 20 to 25 films chosen from over 1,000 international submissions, three to 30 minutes long. The festival welcomes all genres and themes, screens films in the university's largest lecture hall and concludes with a final evening at the Weltkunstzimmer, live performances by emerging local musicians, and an aftershow party. ART COLOGNE takes place November 6–9 at Koelnmesse with 165 top galleries from 25 countries presenting painting, sculpture, photography, digital art, and installations.
