Braves DFA Kimbrel after just one appearance
Briefly

The Atlanta Braves have designated nine-time All-Star reliever Craig Kimbrel for assignment following his season debut where he pitched a scoreless inning against the Giants. At 37, Kimbrel had been called up from Triple-A earlier but struggled to make a lasting impact. He notably ranks fifth in MLB history with 440 saves and had a successful run with the Braves during the early 2010s. In response, the Braves have recalled left-hander Austin Cox from Triple-A to fill the roster gap left by Kimbrel's departure.
Kimbrel, who began his career in Atlanta in 2010, was called up from Triple-A Gwinnett prior to Friday's game against the Giants.
Atlanta recalled left-hander Austin Cox, 28, from Triple-A Gwinnett in a corresponding transaction.
