Braves sign pitcher Austin Cox, option him to Triple-A

The Atlanta Braves have signed left-hander Austin Cox to a major league contract, subsequently optioning him to Triple-A Gwinnett. At 28, Cox, a native of Macon, Georgia, was a fifth-round pick by the Kansas City Royals in 2018 and debuted in the MLB in 2023. Despite a knee injury that affected his 2023 season, he contributed with a 0.5 fWAR and struck out 22.1% of batters faced. Known for his high walk rates, the Braves evidently see potential in the 6'4" pitcher, who impressed in Triple-A prior to this signing.
