The alleged assault occurred while Lewis worked on the University of Michigan coaching staff in 2024. According to reports, Lewis sexually assaulted and harassed the accuser with threatening text messages. Head coach Sherrone Moore, a mandated reporter under Title IX, allegedly failed to report the assault, gave Lewis a raise, and sexually harassed the accuser himself. Lewis subsequently worked at the University of Toledo before joining UConn and then the Falcons. Moore was fired by Michigan in December 2025 and arrested on charges including felony home invasion and stalking.
