Joan Laporta secured re-election as Barcelona president with approximately 68% of the vote, defeating opponent Victor Font who received nearly 30%. The 63-year-old will begin his second consecutive term and fourth overall presidency starting July 1st. Laporta, who previously led Barcelona from 2003-2010 and appointed Pep Guardiola, described the result as resounding and pledged to strengthen the first team and complete Nou Camp stadium redevelopment. Nearly 48,500 votes were cast with a 42.34% turnout. Barcelona has overcome recent financial difficulties to claim a domestic treble last season and currently leads La Liga by four points over Real Madrid.
