'I can't expect miracles' - Remco Evenepoel admits it'll take time to return to his best after Liege-Bastogne-Liege disappointment

Liège-Bastogne-Liège concluded the spring Classics with Tadej Pogačar claiming victory, overshadowing expectations of a head-to-head clash with Remco Evenepoel. Evenepoel, recently returned from significant injuries, faced difficulties throughout the race and finished in 59th place. Despite having a win in his prior race, it was evident that his recovery hindered his performance. Evenepoel acknowledged the gap in his fitness levels, noting that proper training was necessary for a return to form, and it showed during the demanding final climbs of Liège-Bastogne-Liège.

"If you're good, you're at the front everywhere. I'm not disappointed, but it's a shame that I didn't feel at my best in the final of this race."
