Visma-Lease a Bike exhibited positivity despite another defeat at the Tour de France, demonstrating resilience against Tadej Pogačar's dominance. Jonas Vingegaard felt strong throughout the Mont Ventoux stage, aided by his team, which enacted a solid plan to apply pressure on Pogačar. Although their strategy ultimately fell short, Sepp Kuss expressed contentment with their execution, feeling free to take risks without the burden of expectation. Tiesj Benoot acknowledged the strength in their collaboration during the stage, reinforcing their plan's effectiveness even in a loss, with two challenging stages ahead in the Alps.
Pogačar couldn't be shaken, and - as he does - he outsprinted Vingegaard to the line, taking another two seconds and indeed a new Ventoux record.
In a way it's a nice or interesting position to be in, because there's already a decent margin, so we really have nothing to lose by trying.
We wanted to put pressure on Pogačar of course, it was good that we had two guys in the break, so I could wait until Simon [Yates] and Sepp were done.
We succeeded in the plan, and two more Alps stages to go.
