Approximately 120 protesters gathered in Santa Ana to voice their opposition to recent ICE raids that occurred around the city, including locations like Home Depots and restaurants. Councilmember Jessie Lopez criticized U.S. Atty. Bill Essayli for his stance on immigration enforcement, suggesting that he should focus on bigger issues. Protesters reported concern over the conditions faced by individuals detained during these raids. The Orange County Rapid Response Network noted a rising trend in protests against ongoing ICE activity, reflecting the community’s overwhelming anxiety and commitment to immigrant rights.
"I feel enraged," said Councilmember Jessie Lopez, standing with the crowd. "If [U.S. Atty.] Bill Essayli cares about criminals, he should start at the White house."
"This is not a jail, so we have no idea about the quality of conditions inside, so that's very worrisome," said Anderson, who is accredited by the Department of Justice as a legal representative.
"We see you!" Anderson shouted as protesters screamed, "Shame!" and rushed to see what was going on. "We see you, private security guards! You don't have to do this!"
