ArtsWatch Insider: Cover-to-cover coverage of the Portland Book Festival * Oregon ArtsWatch
"Stories have power. Every donation goes directly to pay writers to bring you stories about books and so much more. ArtsWatch has very little overhead, and 94% of its budget goes to pay people. Last year, ArtsWatch economically supported 72 people, and the overall impact is even bigger than that. As a statewide anchor institution, ArtsWatch strengthens the entire arts ecosystem, so every donation creates a big ripple effect to support many artists at once."
"It takes a big village to cover a big festival Several stories about the festival are popping up on Oregon ArtsWatch all week long. Find them all under PDX Book Fest 2025. A variety of preview interviews with authors and poets will run beforehand and, if all goes according to plan, three writers will be on the ground to cover the festival itself."
Portland Book Festival takes place Nov. 8 as an all-day event featuring more than 100 presenters across 10 stages, drop-in workshops, pop-up readings, an extensive book fair, and local food trucks. Community events occur around the city in the days before and after through Nov. 9. Oregon ArtsWatch will run preview interviews and related coverage and expects three staff on-site for festival reporting. Karen Pate edits and oversees ArtsWatch's book coverage and coordinated festival planning. ArtsWatch operates with very little overhead, directs 94% of its budget to pay people, and economically supported 72 people last year. Fundraising incentives include ticket giveaways and Give!Guide promotions.
