"A great coordinated response made the evacuation process go smoothly. Firefighters used baskets to carry patients down flights of stairs, ensuring their safety during the transfer."
"While we have stable generator power, out of an abundance of caution, we are transferring some patients, including ICU patients, to other hospitals for continuity of care."
A fire occurred at Boston Medical Center in Brighton early Wednesday morning, resulting in the transfer of approximately 25 patients, including some in intensive care. Firefighters responded to the blaze in an electrical room around 1:30 a.m. and successfully extinguished the flames. They utilized fans to clear heavy smoke from the building. All patients and staff were reported safe, but the hospital decided to transfer patients to other facilities for continuity of care. Planned procedures and outpatient appointments were rescheduled, and the hospital is not accepting ambulance patients.
