MBTA service disruptions are here. Here's what to know.
Briefly

The MBTA will implement service changes impacting the Blue, Orange, Lowell, and Fitchburg lines, focusing on signal, track, and bridge work. The Orange Line will undergo weekend signal upgrades, leading to service suspensions between Wellington and Back Bay, with shuttles provided. There will also be increased Green Line service during these disruptions. Blue Line improvements continue throughout the month to enhance reliability. Riders are encouraged to utilize alternative transit options during this period as the MBTA thanks them for their patience and support during the improvements.
The MBTA understands how these service changes affect riders' daily travels during this period, but we are committed to improving your travels long term with more reliable, timely, and safe service.
The MBTA performed signal upgrade work on the Orange Line this past weekend and will continue this work during two more weekends in August.
During the work, rail service will be suspended between the Wellington and Back Bay stations, with free shuttle buses operating during the disruption.
Throughout the month, the MBTA said, work will continue on the Blue Line to rebuild and ensure that additional sections of track are improved to the same state of good repair standards.
