"Everyone was out shoveling their cars. But we all continued to the street because we all damn knew we weren't seeing another plow. I was tired of watching all the cars get stuck in front of my house, so that's why I went and shoveled their intersection. Everyone was helping one another and interacting like a community during one of the greatest snowstorms ever!!"
"Driving conditions were horrible, only main streets are completely cleared. At least 50% of side streets are really rough or not even touched yet. It was all or nothing and get stuck."
Following Monday's blizzard, New Bedford faces challenging driving conditions with many side streets remaining snow-covered. Residents display remarkable community spirit by working together to clear streets after limited snowplow service. Allie Crane and her neighbors collectively shoveled their intersection when they realized additional plows wouldn't arrive. Despite these efforts, approximately 10 vehicles became stuck on uncleared portions of streets. Scott Vicente, a pickup truck driver, navigated treacherous roads while checking on loved ones and maintaining properties. Main streets are cleared, but roughly 50% of side streets remain rough or untouched, requiring residents to employ aggressive driving strategies to traverse snow-packed roads.
