Giants, Scott Alexander Agree To Minor League Deal
Briefly

The San Francisco Giants have secured veteran left-handed reliever Scott Alexander on a minor league deal as they seek to bolster their bullpen depth. Alexander, 36, had a difficult stint with the Rockies earlier this season, posting a 6.06 ERA in 16 1/3 innings. Despite this setback, he boasts a solid career ERA of 3.34 and a strong ground-ball rate. Familiar to Giants fans from his previous tenure, Alexander now joins Triple-A Sacramento alongside left-hander Joey Lucchesi, providing the team with additional options for their bullpen, which currently has limited left-handed pitching resources.
Ugly as that short run in Denver was, Alexander has a nice track record in the majors overall. He carries a career 3.34 ERA, 17.5% strikeout rate and 8.8% walk rate in 325 2/3 innings.
At present, Erik Miller is the only left-hander in manager Bob Melvin's bullpen. The only other southpaws on the 40-man roster at all are starters and Kyle Harrison.
