Padres To Activate Michael King On Saturday
Briefly

Michael King is returning to pitch for the Padres on Saturday after being activated from the 60-day injured list. King was out for two and a half months due to a thoracic nerve issue affecting his shoulder. In his rehabilitation start, he averaged 92.7 MPH with his fastball, a bit lower than his usual. His previous performance showed a 2.59 ERA and a high strikeout rate, suggesting he could be San Diego's leading starter when back to form. He is expected to pitch around 75 pitches in his first game back.
Michael King is set to make his return from the injured list on Saturday, activated to pitch against Lucas Giolito after a nearly three-month absence.
After experiencing discomfort in his shoulder in May, King missed two and a half months recovering from a thoracic nerve issue, although there were no structural concerns.
In his only Triple-A rehab appearance, King reached 61 pitches over 3 1/3 innings, and he is expected to be limited to about 75 pitches in his first MLB appearance since the injury.
Prior to his injury, King had a standout season with a 2.59 earned run average and outstanding strikeout and walk rates, positioning him as potentially San Diego's best starter.
