Starling Marte Drawing Trade Interest
Briefly

Starling Marte is slashing .289/.372/.416 over 200 plate appearances this season, yielding a wRC+ of 129. At age 36, he has primarily played as a designated hitter, with a .793 OPS against lefties and .762 OPS against righties. His performance, while lacking in power, remains productive with a .336 BABIP. Marte is in the final season of a four-year, $78MM contract with roughly $6.4MM remaining this year. Several teams, including Kansas City, appear interested in acquiring him as the trade deadline nears.
Starling Marte is now slashing .289/.372/.416 over an even 200 plate appearances this season, which translates to a very solid 129 wRC+.
Marte is benefiting from a .336 BABIP and he isn't generating much power, but the former All-Star has shown he is still productive within somewhat limited parameters.
While not the biggest chunk of change to take on over the season's final two months, it does seem a little steep for a part-time primary DH.
Hypothetically, it stands to reason that Kansas City could still be an interested party, given how the Royals are struggling offensively.
