Dr. Ernest J. Barthélemy, chief of neurosurgery at SUNY Downstate, has been named president-elect of the American Society of Black Neurosurgeons for 2025. His focus will be on increasing representation in neurosurgery, improving mentorship, and developing leadership skills among underrepresented groups. The ASBN was founded to create equitable opportunities and support for Black professionals in the field, where currently Black neurosurgeons represent only 3.8%. Barthélemy's extensive background and commitment to inclusion reflect a significant shift towards a more diverse future in neurosurgery.
