""The nursing assistant observed the victim laying on her bed with severe head injuries," Brooklyn Assistant District Attorney Ari Rottenberg said in court. "There was blood all over the room, and the victim or defendant was not responsive. And there is a bathroom private for that room, and at that time, it was observed that the defendant was in the bathroom.""
""There was blood on the defendant's gown and on her legs. The defendant was washing her hands in the bathroom sink," he said. "There was a wheelchair in the room that had both leg and foot pedals removed. One of the pedals was on the floor in the room and there was blood covering that pedal. The other foot pedal had been discarded out of the window and was on the ground below.""
A 95-year-old nursing home resident was charged with murder and weapons offenses after an 89-year-old roommate was found fatally bludgeoned in a Brooklyn facility. Court testimony described severe head injuries, blood throughout the room, and a wheelchair with its leg and foot pedals removed. One pedal was blood-covered inside the room and another was discarded out a window. Staff observed the accused washing her hands with blood on her gown and legs. The victim, a Holocaust survivor who lost her entire family, was taken to hospital and pronounced dead. The accused was ordered held at Bellevue Hospital jail ward.
