Heartbreaking Christmas for Midwood, Brooklyn family after son is shot dead in Brownsville
"Stanislav Iwanowicz spent Christmas Eve preparing a holiday feast for his two sons in their Midwood apartment only to find out Christmas Eve the older one would never come home. He said police told him his son was fatally shot in the chest just before 10 a.m. outside the St. Jude Treatment Center in Brownsville. Police said Marcin Iwanowicz was taken to Brookdale Hospital, where he was pronounced dead."
"On Christmas Day, his scooter was still outside the clinic, and there was what appears to be a bullet hole outside the building where the father said he went for methadone treatment Wednesday, something he'd done daily for years after, his father says, he became addicted to painkillers after a should surgery. "He get sick and because he just have Medicaid they sent him for methadone program," Stanislav said. "Then the program on Coney Island was closed, then he find what was open.""
Stanislav Iwanowicz prepared a Christmas Eve meal in his Midwood apartment and discovered his older son, 46-year-old Marcin Iwanowicz, had been fatally shot outside the St. Jude Treatment Center in Brownsville just before 10 a.m. Marcin was taken to Brookdale Hospital and pronounced dead. Surveillance cameras surround the building and a scooter and apparent bullet hole remained outside on Christmas Day. Marcin attended daily methadone treatment after becoming addicted to painkillers following a shoulder surgery. NYPD investigators say the shooting may have followed a physical dispute and a suspect described as wearing all black with a yellow hooded sweatshirt remains at large.
