Bishop Lawrence C. Provenzano of the Episcopal Diocese of Long Island will be honored on May 5 at St. Ann & the Holy Trinity Church. The event, themed "The Heart of Community," will showcase the church's significant history in Brooklyn through various activities including music and storytelling. St. Ann's has deep-rooted connections, having been founded in 1847, predating the diocese itself. Provenzano's leadership emphasizes community engagement, reflecting on how the church's mission goes beyond mere attendance.
Provenzano said at the time at the Sept. 16, 2018 Evensong, "I think that our way of operating is that the church exists in the spirit of community - not just to get people to come to church."
The event on Wednesday, May 5 is themed "The Heart of Community" and will celebrate the parish's history and impact in Brooklyn through music, storytelling events, service and social action.
