""We have advanced so far in the process, thanks to the leadership and direction of the NYS Health Department and the collaboration of the NYC Health Department," she wrote."

The floating pool project, known as POOL1, is set to be tested this summer in Lower Manhattan. It is currently 25% of the original size and requires six health department approvals before opening for swimming in 2027. An emergency chlorine dosing system is being added to enhance water safety. The project, first announced in 2010, has received support from state and city officials. Delays are viewed as necessary for achieving a 'swimmable city' in New York.
