A police officer from Brooklyn North station prevented an arson when he interrupted a perpetrator in the act of setting fire to multiple vehicles. Dressed in black and yellow gloves, the suspect had trespassed by jumping a fence to access the lot. After being confronted, he fled the scene through an alleyway. This incident underscores concerns about security in areas holding police assets and the quick response of law enforcement personnel to criminal activities.
A member of service assigned to our station house security at Brooklyn North interrupted the perpetrator as he was setting fire to a number of vehicles, at which point the perpetrator removed a piece of plywood and fled through an alleyway back to Hart Street.
According to investigators, a perpetrator wearing all black and yellow gloves hopped a fence to gain entry to the lot, which houses vehicles assigned to Patrol Borough Brooklyn North.
