Two unidentified gunmen opened fire outside Burbuja Events at 2929 Atlantic Ave in Cypress Hills at about 1:16 a.m. on Dec. 14, injuring six teenagers aged 15 to 17. The victims sustained gunshot wounds to the chest, hip, legs, arms, and foot and were transported to Brookdale University and Kings County Hospitals in stable condition and expected to survive. A birthday party was occurring at the event space when the shooting happened. Police Commissioner Jessica Tisch characterized the incident as believed to be gang-related and said detectives are following leads in an active investigation. Shootings in the 75th Precinct fell 33.3% year-to-date through Dec. 7, though Brooklyn has seen a recent uptick in shootings after months of decline.
