A two-alarm fire occurred on Thursday evening in East New York, displacing eight residents from their wood-frame home. Firefighters quickly arrived and managed to control the blaze, which had engulfed the second floor. Though extinguished by 6 p.m., the fire caused significant damage, leading to a vacate order from the Department of Buildings. Neighboring homes were also impacted, including one with a large hole in the wall. The blaze was extinguished shortly after 6 p.m., per the FDNY. Though no injuries were reported, the blaze left two buildings badly damaged and forced eight people out of their homes.
According to Department of Buildings records, the home where the fire started suffered 'significant fire damage.' Several windows were broken and the home's structural supports burned.
