Wharton School received a $60 million gift from alumnus Bruce Jacobs to establish the Dr. Bruce I. Jacobs Master of Science in Quantitative Finance, its first new degree in 50 years. The gift is the largest in Wharton's history and brings Jacobs's total contributions to the school to more than $80 million. The program is aimed at Penn students finishing quantitative undergraduate degrees and requires one additional year of coursework in quantitative methods, machine learning, artificial intelligence and financial markets. The curriculum will include focused courses, internships and real-world experience to prepare graduates for careers in quantitative asset management, with the inaugural cohort beginning next fall.
