Half of German-speaking SAP users to stay on ECC to 2030
"The fact that some companies are not planning to switch to S/4HANA until 2030 does not mean that they will wait until then to make the switch. Rather, they simply need this time due to the complexity of their system landscapes. I see this as a reflection of the reality in IT departments. Skills shortages, parallel transformation projects, and limited budgets are also causing schedules to be pushed back."
"SAP maintains that mainstream support for ECC runs out at the end of 2027, after which extended support is available at a 2 percent premium until the end of 2030. Thirty-seven percent of ECC users want to switch by the end of 2027, while 4 percent are targeting a switch by the end of 2033."
A survey of German-speaking SAP users reveals that nearly 50% of ECC platform users plan to migrate to S/4HANA by 2030, missing SAP's 2027 mainstream support deadline. Thirty-seven percent aim for 2027 migration, while 4% target 2033. Organizations cite system landscape complexity, skills shortages, parallel transformation projects, and budget limitations as reasons for delayed migration timelines. Extended support remains available until 2030 at a 2% premium. The survey included 198 senior leaders from organizations using SAP, conducted between December 2025 and January 2026. Additionally, SAP's rebranding efforts for Business Suite are not gaining traction with users.
