"Portions of the North Bay were rattled Sunday afternoon by a 4.0 magnitude earthquake that began in east Sonoma County, according to the U.S. Geological Survey. The quake struck just before 3:31 p.m. about 3.7 miles west of Glen Ellen, just southeast of Santa Rosa, according to USGS data. The tremor began about 1.2 miles underground and some residents reported feeling about 10 seconds of shaking."

The quake was felt as far as San Jose, about 87 miles southeast. A 3.1 magnitude aftershock was felt 8 minutes after, this time about 1.4 miles deep. At 4:04 p.m., another 3.4 magnitude quake hit about 4.3 miles west-southwest of Kenwood."
