California lawmaker proposes 'two-state solution' in response to redistricting fight
Briefly

Gov. Gavin Newsom's California redistricting plan is set to go before voters this November. Assembly Republican James Gallagher has proposed an alternate approach that would permanently split California into two states. Gallagher's plan would separate bluer coastal counties from GOP-leaning inland counties, creating a new inland state of more than 10 million residents, which would rank among the top ten most populous U.S. states. Gallagher described the plan as a "two-state solution" and said inland Californians have been overlooked. Gallagher scheduled a news conference in Sacramento to outline the proposal.
The people of inland California have been overlooked for too long,
It's time for a two-state solution.
