
"Vehicle burglary, grand theft, theft by credit card: Between 8:30 p.m. on Jan. 19 and 6:50 a.m. on Jan. 20, someone broke through a window of a vehicle parked in the 13000 block of Fortuna Court and stole a backpack containing a laptop, headphones and a wallet for a loss valued at approximately $2,330. The suspect then used a credit card in the wallet to make a fraudulent purchase totaling approximately $107."
"Theft by false pretenses: On Jan. 23, a Saratoga resident reported that someone contacted them acting as a tech support employee, tricked the victim into providing access to their computer account and obtained the victim's personal information, which was then used to access their credit card account, where fraudulent transactions were made. The victim disputed the charges, and no financial loss was reported."
Between Jan. 18 and Jan. 23, several crimes occurred in Saratoga neighborhoods. A vehicle window was broken in the 13000 block of Myren Drive, causing over $400 in damage. A vehicle in the 13000 block of Fortuna Court was burglarized and a backpack with a laptop, headphones and a wallet was stolen, with losses around $2,330; a stolen credit card was used for about $107 in fraudulent purchases. Mail was handed to an unverified person in a Stewart Court driveway. A vehicle on Harleigh Drive was burglarized for a $10 sleeping bag. Identity theft led to a $2,000 car insurance bill. A tech-support scam obtained computer access and credit card information, but disputed charges resulted in no confirmed financial loss.
