A new water pipeline is being established from Brownsville to the City of Starbase, which will replace truck deliveries of potable water used by SpaceX. The Brownsville Public Utilities Board confirmed a contract allowing SpaceX to receive water at cheaper in-city rates, despite the company establishing its own city. SpaceX will cover the costs for extending the pipeline and necessary city improvements. Previously constrained by a 60,000 gallon per day cap, the pipeline will allow more expansion for SpaceX and may impose conditions on nearby non-affiliated homes to access water.
The new water pipeline will connect Brownsville to the City of Starbase, replacing truck-hauled deliveries of potable water currently used by SpaceX.
SpaceX will extend the pipeline at its own expense and construct improvements necessary for BPUB to deliver water to the metering point within city limits.
The potable water deliveries were limited to a cap of 60,000 gallons per day under the previous hauled-water agreement, but the new pipeline will remove this constraint.
Access to the new water supply may come with specific conditions for non-SpaceX affiliated homes along the route to Starbase.
