Beverly Thomson, 61, died Sunday morning surrounded by family after a long battle with cancer. Thomson spent more than 30 years in broadcast journalism, working as a reporter for CTV News Toronto, as an anchor on CTV News Channel and previously as a Global News anchor from 1997 to 2003. Thomson worked on Canada AM and covered major events including the 2016 U.S. presidential election. Thomson conducted high-profile interviews with figures such as Celine Dion, Shania Twain, Donald Trump and astronaut Chris Hadfield. Thomson received a lifetime achievement award from RTDNA Canada and was noted for advocacy for cancer charities.
