Ontario measles cases up by 140 this week, province's top doctor says | CBC News
Briefly

Measles cases in Ontario have dramatically risen to 1,383, with 98 hospitalizations reported, marking an increase of 14 since last week. The highest incidences are found in southwest Ontario's rural and farming communities, prompting local health units to adapt communication strategies in Low German. Chief Medical Officer Dr. Kieran Moore expressed concern over the challenges of controlling the outbreak in areas with low vaccination rates, often linked to trust issues and independent decision-making. He emphasized the importance of at least one vaccine dose, urging parents to ensure their children are vaccinated due to the virus's contagious nature.
Given the numbers in these communities that are unvaccinated and we're dealing with measles, the most infectious virus that we know of, it will be very difficult to control.
I'm happy that they're able to keep the numbers down to 100 to 150 Ontarians that are getting infected on a weekly basis. To me that's tremendous, hard and difficult work.
