Toronto police officer charged after allegedly using computer unlawfully | CBC News
"Police allege the constable, 25, unlawfully accessed private police databases on several occasions between January 2024 and April 2025. The officer, assigned to 55 Division, has about three years of service, police said in a news release Wednesday. The officer has been suspended with pay in keeping with the Community Safety and Policing Act."
"The arrest is not related to a months-long police corruption probe known as Project South, police added. In that probe, York Regional Police announced on Feb. 5 that they had arrested and charged seven Toronto police officers, one retired Toronto police officer and 19 civilians. The officers are accused of being involved in serious criminal activity, including conspiracy to commit murder, shootings, extortion, robbery and drug trafficking."
A 25-year-old Toronto police constable assigned to 55 Division has been arrested and charged with unauthorized use of a computer. The officer, with approximately three years of service, allegedly unlawfully accessed private police databases on multiple occasions between January 2024 and April 2025. The officer has been suspended with pay under the Community Safety and Policing Act and is scheduled to appear in Toronto court on June 4. Police clarified this arrest is unrelated to Project South, a separate corruption investigation involving seven Toronto police officers, one retired officer, and 19 civilians accused of serious crimes including conspiracy to commit murder, shootings, extortion, robbery, and drug trafficking. Additionally, three Peel police officers were suspended in connection with Project South but remain unnamed and uncharged.
