GM recalls nearly 600,000 Cadillac, Chevrolet and GMC cars due to engine failure risks
Briefly

General Motors is recalling close to 600,000 vehicles across its Cadillac, Chevrolet, and GMC brands due to potential defects that could lead to engine failure. The recall includes specific models from 2021-2024 and is linked to gas engine components which may produce loud noises and performance issues before failure. GM anticipates that only 3% of affected vehicles will have the defect and is offering inspections and repairs free of charge. Notification to vehicle owners will start on June 9, allowing time for preparation and confirmation of owner lists.
According to recall documents, the recall covers certain Cadillac Escalades, Chevrolet Silverados, and GMC Sierras due to potential manufacturing defects that can cause engine failure.
Prior to failure, impacted drivers may be alerted through loud knocking noises, the check engine light turning on, or other driving performance issues.
The recall is for about 597,630 vehicles, but GM estimates that just 3% have the defect and will inspect them free of charge.
GM stated that it was common to require time to confirm mailing lists for owners and prepare dealers for the recall service.
