Oscar Piastri crashed on the opening lap of the Azerbaijan Grand Prix, removing his immediate challenge. Lando Norris started seventh and finished seventh, taking six points and remaining behind his teammate by 31 points. Norris said he was doing his best and dismissed suggestions he had missed an opportunity to close the gap. A poor qualifying lap that brushed the wall and being sent out on a changing track compromised his race. Overtaking in Baku proved extremely difficult, with DRS trains and a slow pit stop further limiting progress. Norris felt he maximised a difficult weekend.
