"Tesla is recalling up to 6,197 Cybertrucks after the company used the wrong glue to attach the electric pickup's off-road light bar, according to a regulatory notice submitted Monday. The fault could lead to the light bar separating from the pickup while driving and becoming a road hazard, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration recall report said. Tesla began shipping the off-road light bar as an optional accessory for the "Cyberbeast" variant of the angular pickup late last year."
"Tesla's service manual states that employees are not legally permitted to install the light bar electronics, and that the light bar must be delivered covered with blackout film tape, which only customers are authorized to remove. The company will replace any defective light bars with a new one secured with tape and a "positive mechanical attachment" at no cost to the customer, the recall report said."
Tesla recalled up to 6,197 Cybertrucks after using the wrong adhesive to mount an optional off-road LED light bar. The faulty glue can allow the light bar to separate while driving, posing a road hazard. The accessory was offered for the Cyberbeast variant and sits above the windshield, capable of illuminating up to 525 yards. Some owners received partially installed fittings and were instructed to finish installation themselves. Tesla's service manual prohibits employees from installing the electronics and requires delivery with blackout film tape for customer removal. Tesla will replace defective light bars at no charge with tape and a positive mechanical attachment.
